Individuals with opioid use disorder face a dramatically elevated risk of fatal overdose during the highly vulnerable transition period immediately following release from incarceration. This multi-phase project features an observational retrospective cohort study to identify quantitative predictors of treatment linkage, as well as a qualitative aim exploring individuals' preferences and lived experiences accessing medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD). Building on these foundations, an acceptability and feasibility trial tests a telehealth-based intervention to determine the impact of providing rapid, remote access to treatment on care continuity, wellbeing, and survival for marginalized populations navigating the criminal legal system.
