COMMUNITY ACTION

Group of smiling women with bicycles wearing helmets, standing on a sidewalk in a park, some making peace signs, with a city street and trees in the background.
Three young males sitting on a bench outdoors under green leafy trees, writing in notebooks with backpacks nearby.
A large group of diverse people gathered in a decorated restaurant dining area, smiling and posing for a group photo. There are tables with food and drinks around them, and colorful wall art and lighting overhead.

We partner with community members to pair evidence-based interventions with community power, ensuring benefits are lasting, locally owned, and rooted in justice.

Community-driven nature healing.

Our research has proven that simple, low-cost greening interventions lead to healthier and safer communities. Deeply Rooted is a community-academic collaborative that works with local leaders and the healing power of nature to improve health and wellbeing in Black and Brown Philadelphia neighborhoods. With more than 1,000 trees planted and more than 1 million square feet of vacant land greened, we’re demonstrating what’s possible when you align research, community leadership, and meaningful investment.
